Special exhibition menu: Traveling with Van Gogh

2025.05.30

Van Gogh was born in the Netherlands, traveled and lived in various European countries and towns during his lifetime, including Antwerp in Belgium and Paris, and Arles and Saint-Rémy in southern France. We have prepared a “Traveling with Van Gogh” course menu that incorporates many of the traditional dishes of these countries and regions.

Aperitif
Non-alcoholic cocktail “Flower Vase with Thistles”

Van Gogh’s late work “Flower Vase with Thistles” with its beautiful blue-purple color. This colorful cocktail uses butterfly pea syrup to evoke the nobility of the thistle flower. The combination of lemon and grapefruit makes for a refreshing drink.

Appetizers
Shrimp fritters, marinated mussels, andive salad

A shrimp fritter inspired by croquette, which is the origin of croquette and popular in Van Gogh’s homeland, the Netherlands. This hors d’oeuvre is filled with the aroma of shrimp, mussels, and andives, all of which are loved in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Soup
Soupe de poisson

Van Gogh admired the bright sun of southern France. Soup de Poisson is the most beloved soup in the south of France. Enjoy the rich, umami-rich broth made by carefully frying sea bream fillets and simmering them with vegetables.
